How do I reset my ImmiAccount password?
- Open the ImmiAccount login page from the Home Affairs website.
- Select the link for a forgotten username or password.
- Follow the on-screen steps.
- Keep your phone ready. After you get back in, you will still need the 6-digit code from your authenticator app to log in.
Home Affairs' login page says to use the forgotten username or forgotten password links if you can't log in. It doesn't describe the reset screens in detail, so follow what you see.
What will I be asked for?
You answer five secret questions when you make the account, and you need the exact answers if you forget your password. Have your registered email address ready too.
The reset email didn't arrive. What now?
- Check your spam and junk folders.
- Make sure you are checking the same email address that is on the account.
- Wait a few minutes and try again, rather than sending many requests.
- Check that your mail provider or workplace isn't blocking messages. For email codes, Home Affairs warns that delivery can be affected by email routing or organisation security settings, and the same can apply to other emails.
If you never confirmed your email address after creating the account, self-service recovery may not work. Confirming it is needed for self-service functions such as getting back a forgotten username or password.
I can't remember my secret question answers
The login page has a separate path for people who lost their MFA app, and it asks for your password and secret questions. In that case, use the ImmiAccount technical support form only if the problem is not simply access, as the department says that form is not for account access or recovery.
We suggest you do not make a duplicate account without checking.
Part of an organisation?
Home Affairs says to ask your Organisation Account Administrator (OAA) to reset your password or MFA before you contact the department.
How do I change my password later?
After you log in, Home Affairs says you can update your password, your email and your secret questions in your account settings.
