Who completes Form 47SP?

The person applying for the visa. Your partner, the sponsor, must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen, and completes their own form. See Form 40SP.

How is it lodged?

Online through ImmiAccount is the department's preferred method. Paper lodgement is possible only in limited situations, and an application sent on paper without an invitation can be treated as invalid. If you do not have an account yet, see how to create an ImmiAccount.

What does it ask?

  • Travel and visa history.
  • Relationship details.
  • Family details.
  • Character and health.

What documents do I upload?

Gather your documents before you start and give each file a clear name. The details in Form 47SP, Form 40SP and your documents should match each other. See the document checklist.

Common mistakes

  • Wrong or inconsistent details.
  • Leaving sections blank.
  • Missing key documents.
  • Not disclosing past visa refusals or convictions.

For the visa itself, see the partner visa guide.
