How do I log in to ImmiAccount?

Home Affairs lists these steps:

  1. Go to the ImmiAccount login page.
  2. Enter your username and password, then select Login.
  3. Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app.
  4. Select Submit.

The login page also has two recovery links: one if you have forgotten your username or password, and one if you no longer have access to your multi-factor authentication app.

Why can't I log in?

Work down this list. Most problems are one of these.

1. A typo in the username or password. Retype both slowly. Check caps lock. Your username may be your email address, depending on how you set the account up.

2. A code that has expired. Authenticator codes change every 30 seconds, so enter the code you see now. If it keeps failing, set your phone's date and time to update automatically.

3. You have forgotten your details. Use the forgotten username or forgotten password link. See forgot your ImmiAccount password.

4. You lost access to your authenticator app. Use the "I no longer have access to my multi-factor authentication app" link. You'll enter your password and answer your secret questions, then set up MFA again. See MFA setup and fixes.

5. The page won't load or buttons don't respond. Try a different browser or device, clear your cache and cookies, and avoid using the back button in the middle of an application.

6. A system fault. Home Affairs asks you to rule out maintenance or technical faults first. If the site looks down, wait and try again later.

**7. See account locked.

Who can reset my password if I'm in an organisation?

Home Affairs says to ask your Organisation Account Administrator (OAA) to reset your password or MFA before you contact the department.

Can I use the technical support form for login problems?

No. The department says the ImmiAccount technical support form is not for account access or recovery. Use the recovery links on the login page. The form is for technical problems with your account or application, and the department aims to respond within ten business days.

Safety check before you log in

  • Make sure you reached the page from the official Home Affairs website.
  • Never enter your ImmiAccount details on a site that asks you to pay first.
  • Do not share your login. The Law Council of Australia has advised people to stop sharing ImmiAccount credentials.

FAQ

What is my ImmiAccount username?

It is the username you chose when you made the account, or your email address if you used that as your username. If you can't remember, use the forgotten username link.

Where do I find the 6-digit code?

It's in the authenticator app you set up on your phone or computer. Home Affairs doesn't have its own app.

Why does the code keep failing?

The usual causes are an old code or a phone clock that is out of sync. Wait for the next code and try again.

I changed my phone. What now?

Use the lost-MFA link on the login page, enter your password, answer your secret questions, and set up MFA again on the new phone.

Can I log in with only my email address?

Only if your email address is your username. Otherwise use your username.

Who do I contact if nothing works?

Use the recovery links first. For a technical fault in your account or application, use the technical support form.
