ImmiAccount vs VEVO: what's the difference?
On this page
VEVO is the official Home Affairs service. You enter your details on the government site, not here. Have your passport and your visa grant number, TRN or visa evidence number ready.

What is an ImmiAccount for?
Home Affairs says you can use it to apply for a visa or citizenship, apply for an APEC Business Travel Card, apply for Australian Trusted Trader and access LEGENDcom. It is not used to apply for an Electronic Travel Authority.

What is VEVO for?
VEVO lets visa holders, employers, education providers and other organisations check visa conditions. Visa holders can check their own details and send proof of their conditions to others, such as an employer, a landlord or a foreign government.

What VEVO cannot do
Home Affairs notes two limits:
- VEVO only covers visa holders whose details are in departmental systems. People who migrated before 1990 and haven't travelled since may have no searchable record. They may need an electronic record of their permanent visa instead.
- VEVO cannot confirm Australian citizenship. Citizens can use a citizenship certificate or an Australian passport.
Which one do I need?
- You want to apply for a visa or citizenship online: ImmiAccount.
- You want to see your visa conditions, like work or study limits: VEVO.
- You're an employer checking a worker's visa conditions: register for an ImmiAccount, then use VEVO with the worker's permission.
- You want to travel to Australia on an ETA: neither. ImmiAccount is not used for an ETA.
