The latest 189 round, on 4 June 2026, issued 10,000 invitations with a tie-break date of 24 April 2026, and most occupations were invited at 75 to 85 points. See invitation round results for the occupation table.

What is an invitation round?

After you submit an EOI, you wait in the pool. Home Affairs periodically invites people to apply. Home Affairs' "Invitation rounds" page says it shows invitation numbers, occupations and minimum points scores.

How many places are there?

The government sets planning levels each year.

How does ranking work?

The highest-ranked EOI by points is invited first. For equal points, the EOI that reached its score earlier (the date of effect) is invited first. Rounds are run for the 189 and the 491 (Family Sponsored), and occupation ceilings can limit how many EOIs in an occupation group are invited. The 190 and state-nominated 491 are not affected by these rounds, because states nominate directly. Meeting the 65-point threshold does not guarantee an invitation, according to Home Affairs.

What should I do after an invitation?

  1. Check your invitation and the 60-day deadline.
  2. Gather your documents.
  3. Lodge your visa application through ImmiAccount. See ImmiAccount help.
